Spirit of Hope United Methodist Church

The people at Spirit of Hope needed a larger gathering space, handicapped accessibility, office space, and new restrooms. The $1.8 million project was Phase 1 of the Master Plan.  One of the difficulties was that the parking lot was located several feet below the main entrance.  Our solution created a new entrance on grade with the parking lot – the new entrance opened into a larger gathering space which included a self-serve coffee lounge and also allowed direct access into the original building which is home to the pre-school program.  Another challenge was trying to provide accessibility and connect four separate levels with one elevator.  We found the perfect spot for the elevator which was where the four levels come together.  We added new stairs and demolished the old narthex walls so the the old narthex and the new gathering space could work together as one space.
